#AReaderEveryDay Cotabato: Bookends

by Bam Baraguir

A couple of months ago, I asked for your help regarding a small reading nook I wanted to put up here in my hometown in Cotabato City, and while it has taken a while to prepare the space, I’m now happy to present to you…. *drumrolls*… Bookends!

My cousins and I cleared out a space in our home and came up with this reading spot. The idea is to have a private space for teenagers and young adults to hang out, read, and play. Given the current situation with the pandemic, we have to limit the number of people in accordance with the guidelines of the local government. That being said, visitors would have to send a message via our Instagram @bookends.ph to book their visit.

To date, we have received 112 books through the ARED book drive. One of our first readers who volunteered to have his photo taken is Alex. Alex loved The Chronicles of Narnia franchise as a kid and was excited when he saw copies of C.S. Lewis’ books in our collection. Three groups of friends have visited us thus far, and we are looking forward to having more. Thank you for your support!
